Regional Compliance Officer

The Role

The Regional Compliance Officer will serve as the custodian of ipaymy’s compliance framework, ensuring full adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements across our operating regions: Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Australia. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role requires close collaboration with regulators, financial institutions, acquirers and key partners, including payment schemes like Mastercard and Visa, to maintain the highest standards of compliance and governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CCEP, CAMS, CFE) are preferred.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in compliance, risk management, AML, or KYC roles (FinTech or financial services preferred).
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Australia.
  • Experience managing compliance relationships with regulatory bodies and global payment schemes like Mastercard and Visa is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality and regulatory integrity.
  • Must be currently living in Singapore (Singaporeans/PR preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust compliance program to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Australia.
    • Monitor regulatory developments and proactively update company policies and procedures.
    • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, managing all compliance reporting, audits, and licensing requirements.
    • Keep track of regulatory updates and communicate key changes to the team.
  • Internal Policies & Risk Management
    • Design and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate compliance risks.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments, internal audits, and compliance reviews to identify and address potential gaps.
    • Ensure compliance requirements are embedded into the company’s day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
    • Review and implement internal SOPs, ensuring compliance SOPs are consistently applied and regularly updated across all regions
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Manage compliance and operational requirements with key external partners, including Mastercard, Visa, and other payment networks.
    • Work closely with internal teams—such as Product, Operations, and Marketing—to ensure regulatory considerations are integrated into business decisions.
    • Advise senior leadership on regulatory developments and potential business implications.
  • RegTech & Automation Strategy
    • Lead ipaymy’s RegTech adoption strategy, identifying, evaluating, and implementing digital tools and AI-powered systems that enhance compliance monitoring and reporting.
    • Drive automation initiatives in AML, CFT, KYC, and transaction monitoring to improve scalability and reduce manual oversight.
    • Partner with technology teams to ensure all compliance systems align with governance standards, data privacy laws, and payment regulations.
    • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and regulatory trends shaping the digital payments ecosystem.
  • Training & Awareness
    • Develop and implement compliance training programs to educate employees on regulatory obligations and ethical standards.
    • Foster a strong culture of compliance and integrity across all levels of the organization.
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Prepare and present regular compliance reports to the CEO and Board of Directors, highlighting key risks and mitigation strategies.
    • Maintain accurate compliance records, policies, and reports for audits and regulatory submissions.
